What Counts as Hazmat Freight?
Hazardous materials freight covers any product the U.S. Department of Transportation classifies as dangerous in transport. These shipments are regulated under DOT and PHMSA rules (49 CFR) and require specific handling, labeling, and carrier qualifications.

Class 2 – Gases
Aerosols, compressed and non-flammable gases (limited quantities)

Class 3 – Flammable Liquids
Paints, solvents, adhesives, cleaning agents

Class 5 – Oxidizers
Paints, solvents, adhesives, cleaning agents

Class 6 — Toxic Substances
Pesticides and select chemical products

Class 8 – Corrosives
Acids, batteries, industrial cleaners

Class 9 – Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods
Lithium batteries, battery packs, dry ice, environmentally hazardous substances, and energy storage products
Higher-hazard categories such as Class 1 (explosives) and Class 7 (radioactive materials) require specialized carriers and are evaluated case by case or referred to a qualified specialty partner.

HAZMAT TRANSPORT
SOLUTIONS
From a single pallet to full truckload shipments, we build the right solution for your freight and your timeline.
Dedicated Shipments
Direct transportation for larger hazmat loads requiring exclusive equipment, minimal handling, and greater shipment control. Ideal for full truckload (FTL) freight moving on critical lanes.
Smaller Shipments
Cost-effective transportation for hazardous materials that don't require a full trailer, including less-than-truckload (LTL) and partial truckload (PTL) options. PTL can provide faster transit and less handling than traditional LTL service.
Time-Critical Freight
Expedited hazmat transportation when production schedules, inventory levels, or customer commitments leave little room for delay.
Cross-Border Transportation
Hazardous materials transportation between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, supported by experienced cross-border logistics partners.
Ongoing Transportation Support
Reliable transportation support for recurring shipments, ongoing projects, and established distribution networks.
Warehouse & Distribution Support
Transportation between manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and distribution centers, including warehouse transfers and distribution center replenishment.
BUILT FOR HAZMAT COMPLIANCE
Every hazmat shipment carries documentation and handling requirements that ordinary freight does not. We work only with carriers who can meet them:
- Hazmat-endorsed drivers holding the proper CDL endorsement and DOT operating authority
- Accurate shipping papers with the correct proper shipping name, UN number, hazard class, and packing group
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS) available for the materials in transit
- Proper placarding and marking on the equipment and packaging
- 24-hour emergency response information, including a registered emergency contact such as CHEMTREC
